3 Affordable Products for a Healthy Hair Routine
How I Maintain My Luscious Locks
There are a few things I like to splurge on in the world: chocolate from other countries, creamy makeup foundation, and a good shampoo.
Luckily, for me I’ve discovered expensive hair care isn’t necessary!
Three products I love are:
Dove Daily Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner
Living in a dry heat makes a good shampoo a must! For under $10 this dynamic duo nourishes my thirsty hair each and every day – especially after a pool day! Remember to massage shampoo in small circles to really cleanse the scalp. I find that adding conditioner to the back base of my head allows me to rinse it properly. Leaving in my conditioner in for a few minutes before rinsing helps me achieve that soft, bouncy hair. Plus, who doesn’t love hair care with a cause!
Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Spray
For around $30 this powerful, yet lightweight blend of coconut, argan, macadamia nut, sweet almond, safflower and grapeseed oils will soften, detangle and de-frizz hair and dry or course hair. I love it especially for the heat and UV rays protection it provides. 3-4 even sprits on my wet hair makes combing a breeze. Since using this protect I’ve noticed my hair is so much silkier, even when it has to undergo 10 minutes of blow-drying action. This is a protect I’m taking to the grave!
My Wet Brush
Good tools allow for good work. This little lifesaver is under $10. You can find one like mine here, and this one here. The open design allows me to use and keep this brush inside my shower. I comb through my conditioner before rinsing, and then again after I rinse my conditioner. It’s a mini massage for my scalp, which promotes healthy scalp and hair growth. I only wish I had known to comb through my wet hair in the shower growing up. I would have saved myself tons of headaches – we all know brushing tangled long locks can be painful!
A few quick tips to make managing your mane even easier:
- When you do get out of the shower, brush the bottom of your hair first. This keeps knots and tangles from forming if you were to otherwise comb from the crown of your head.
- Blow-dry the root of your hair first. Consider this – the ends of your hair is older than the root, which makes it more susceptible to damage. Drying out the ends first makes breakage that much more likely!
- Switch up your shower times. Washing hair at night and letting it air dry helps me only need to blow dry several days out of the week.
