I'm a former preschool teacher who learned how to pay off my student loans and transform my own home all while living on a budget!
I'm also a petite Irish Mexican-American who thinks in English, but cusses in Spanish.
MY REALLY OFFICIAL BIO, THE serious VERSION
Megan Magdaleno
(also known as Meg Mag) is a clinical trauma therapist, who provides consultation through therapy resources and online courses. She's the founder of The House of Mag lifestyle blog, and Friendly Reminder, an online shop that promotes financial, mental, and spiritual well-being for adults and children. As she continues to work towards financial wholeness, she hopes to soon publish children's books that teach emotional intelligence and helps stop the cycle of generational trauma.
NOW FOR THE juicy STUFF
God, family, work. In that order. I take my faith seriously - it inspires me not to take myself
too seriously.
My grandparents helped raise me. They taught me how to speak Spanish. Mister Rogers taught me how to speak English.
I used to want to be a nun. Instead, I went to seminary and studied Biblical Counseling!
Nacho Libre is my favorite movie, and I planned my wedding off it. Taco trucks forever!
ONCE UPON A TIME
I have a really wonderful life, mainly because I married this guy. He's a great baker and cook, and my most faithful behind-the-scenes helper. Statistically, we shouldn't have made it this far. But by the grace of God, we've overcome a lot. Any success or blessing I may find in the future is just the cherry on top because I've really found the funniest, most generous husband ever. We're proof that opposites attract, and people really can survive long-distance dating!
It's true: it's better to give than to receive.
My clothing brand, Friendly Reminder, is that side hustle that allows me
to create all kinds of tools for my community. You can wear words of wisdom on my apparel, or glean some goodness from the resources I create that focus on financial literacy and emotional maturity.
Top: The Heat Press that makes all the custom clothing happen. Left, my friend, Ilse, laughing about the summer of 2003 where she couldn't see me either because, again, I was grounded. Right: The typical therapist pose.
