Hello! Welcome to The House of Mag!
During May of 2014, as I graduated from a Masters program, moved apartments, and helped one of my dearest friends get married, I was asked to illustrate for a children’s coloring book. Suddenly, I was thrown into the public as an artist. Until this point, I had been sort of a “closet creative.” My interests included drawing on teachers’ chalkboards without signing my name, calligraphy on coffee shop napkins, stuffing oil sketches under my bed, reworking vintage dresses, and redecorating our Philadelphia apartment every 3 weeks. I had all these little talents tucked away. All at once my friends started pointing out and telling other people about what I could do, and how much they loved it all.
Isn’t that the best thing ever?
When your friends help you see the best side of you – the side you forget about because you’re too often stuck in your own head.
I began to hone my skills and work a few more jobs to gain more experience in each area I enjoyed. I tried not to lose my momentum as I got engaged, got married, and moved across the country. So now, I’m here. Sharing this little story with you.
The House of Mag is a collection of all my favorite things under one roof. (Namely, my roof). Here’s sharing a little bit of my home to inspire you and yours!
