The Real Reason I Love Fall

A Time to Reflect, A Time to Change

Currently writing from Philadelphia – The City of Brotherly Love. What’s left of the foresty green leaves are joining the others to turn golden yellow, fiery red, and burnt orange. As someone who naturally wards off earth tones in her wardrobe, I’m head over heels for Fall. It’s my favorite season for so many reasons: sweaters, pumpkin spice, scarves, pie, and of course – boots with the fur… (ok, who else can’t say that without breaking into song?!)

The Real Reason I Love Fall

I don’t know about you, but I generally lean towards looking for the deeper meaning in things. I over-analyze, I over think things – I sometimes worry like there’s no tomorrow. The truth is, I am always trying to get comfortable in life – just a little extra peace. It always tends to happen that right when I’m getting comfy, there’s a switch.

We all know that the only thing we can count on in this life to be the same is CHANGE.

The Real Reason I Love Fall

During other times of the year this practice of incessant reflection can easily feel exhausting. But not during Fall. The real reason I love Fall so much is because nature let’s me get cozy inside my own head, and begs me to contemplate all that life has brought me so far. Just as I gather apples and pumpkins, I gather up my list of “good” too. I take inventory of life – what has it blessed me with, and where do I need to change like the leaves too? Fall is saying, “Things are changing, don’t you see? – Now what went well? Be thankful first, so you can embrace the changes up ahead. And, oh, those changes might mean you.” Fall is nature’s time of transition – it’s this natural therapy – mentally and emotionally helping us get ready for what life has next.

The Real Reason I Love Fall

I love Fall because it’s gentle in this way. It’s a season of preparation. Even when we’re ready for it, change is always a little hard for all of us. Preparing for change and transition can help ease the pain of change. Fall gives us time and space, with a touch of magical scenery, to awaken our senses and encourage us to get clarity before continuing on whatever path.

What season do you all love the most? And why?
